Carroll Hall Recognized in 2025 AIA Awards Through Design by Dameron Architecture

Last month, the American Institute of Architects New York State (AIANYS) announced the recipients of the 2025 AIANYS Design Awards. These prestigious honors recognize exceptional architectural projects designed by architects practicing in New York State, from intimate local works to large-scale international collaborations.

We are proud to share that Carroll Hall was recognized through the work of our design partner, Dameron Architecture, who received the AIANYS Small Firm Design Award for their work on our building. The citation notes that “materials from a former warehouse structure are woven into a rich tapestry that plays beautifully against newer and more modern machined elements.”

The awards panel further praised the project, stating, “The project demonstrates how careful planning and ecological design can transform an urban site into a dynamic, evolving space that engages the senses, fosters connection, and celebrates both history and innovation.” These values are at the heart of Carroll Hall and central to the experience we aim to offer our community and guests.

In December, AIA Brooklyn also announced the winners of their annual Brooklyn Design Awards (BKDA), which celebrate excellence in architectural design across Brooklyn and beyond. Dameron Architecture received a Commendation for Creative Reclamation for the Carroll Hall Wall of Bricks.

This street-facing wall is both an artwork and a timeline, composed of fragments from structures that once occupied our site, spanning from geological history to the present day. Using more than 11,000 salvaged bricks from the demolition of an existing warehouse, Dameron Architecture reassembled these materials into a 200-foot-long wall that honors the site’s past while defining Carroll Hall’s presence today.

We are grateful to have collaborated with a design team whose thoughtful approach continues to shape Carroll Hall as a place of discovery, history, and connection.
