Open House New York Returns to Carroll Hall

Brooklyn's Hidden Garden and Event Space Returns with Free Tours on October 19, 2025

Open House New York at Carroll Hall

Returning for a second consecutive year, Carroll Hall, a distinctive event space featuring a lush botanic garden, will once again participate in Open House New York (OHNY) Weekend on Sunday, October 19, 2025. As part of this celebrated annual festival showcasing a behind-the-scene look at destinations across New York City, Carroll Hall will welcome visitors for an exclusive look at one of the city's most innovative and sustainably-designed event venues.

During OHNY Weekend, visitors can explore more than 250 fascinating destinations across New York City's five boroughs. Carroll Hall continues to be a highlight destination, seamlessly integrating cutting-edge sustainable architecture with biodiversity—hosting native plant species that attract local pollinators and wildlife. The venue's immersive woodland-inspired garden creates a rejuvenating microclimate in the urban landscape, offering guests a moment of connection with nature amid the city's energy.

OHNY visitors will discover unexpected elements throughout the space—from automated windows and skylights that naturally ventilate the buildings to handmade mosaic murals depicting underground creatures. The garden presents an idealized woodland environment, creating a harmonious interdependence between plants, animals, people, and architecture.

Architect Christopher Dameron will be on site to give first-come, first-served tours that will provide guests with information to enrich their own discovery of the space. The tour will touch on ecology, ideas of time travel, and material origins and reuse. Tours are 30 minutes each.
